La Calma: Costa Brava area

Indeed a Charming Villa.

We (a group of four couples) enjoyed a mere week at La Calma and found it to be everything we had hoped, expected, wanted it to be for our 50th wedding celebration.

The design of the house, it's location, view, and amenities are simply terrific, and we couldn't have imagined anything better. The 'manual' was quite useful and the suggestions of various places to eat and view were spot on.

The few minor inconveniences were nothing of significance, but for your future clients, we'd suggest you tell them more about the dryer (cleaning the lint trap and emptying the water), providing more than two sets of keys (especially if the occupants are couples likely to go in different directions on various days), and advanced acknowledgement of the small size of the two upstairs (kids?) bedrooms. There was some comment about the need for hooks in that shared bathroom. As was indicated, the coffee machine was quite temperamental and on occasion brought a bit of angst to our more caffeine-dependent guests.

But those all are simply things easily taken care of (except, perhaps, the coffee machine). 

We would and will certainly recommend La Calma to others and would be glad to be used as references if you need ones.

Wonderful vacation

We spent one week in Villa La Roca in August 2016. The villa is visually stunning, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean. At the same time, it is very comfortable and we found that all of our needs for the week were taken care of in terms of what we would expect to be provided. The owners were extremely responsive to any questions and/or requests for recommendations. The area of the Costa Brava in which it is located is particularly beautiful, with lovely coves with crystal clear water and small historic towns to explore. I would highly recommend it and would happily go back, were we to consider another visit to the area.

This is a wonderful house, poised dramatically above the sea. The owners have put a great deal of care into equipping and furnishing the house and we loved staying here.
The house works brilliantly for three couples; we found the shared bathroom a bit tricky when a fourth couple stayed for a few days.

Stunning villa!

We stayed here during the first week in June. The only reason we came to the area was to meet Australian friends who were due to take a cruise from Barcelona and didn't want to come to us in London first! Not knowing the area at all I did a fair amount of research and was inspired by the Charming Villas website. Both Richard and Sara were most helpful in assisting me in my search for the "right" place; their communication was excellent. Villa La Roca was everything the photos depicted and more.

My husband and I were the first of our party to arrive and were warmly greeted by the owners, Mark and Tristan, who gave us a tour of the property. They explained where things were and how they worked. All the information was clearly outlined in a house manual, along with suggested restaurants and places to visit.

The views from the house are absolutely amazing, especially from the roof terrace which was my favourite spot. The pool is beautiful - not that I sampled it - bit too chilly for me at this time of year. However, the others thought it was great "once you were in"!

The kitchen was well-equipped and enabled the cooking enthusiasts amongst us (not me) to prepare some delicious food.

Re location - Tamariu is a delightful little settlement with many cafes/restaurants on the sea front. There is also a Spa grocery store - useful for provisions if you can't face the trek to Palafrugell and the big supermarkets (Mercadona, Aldi etc). Tamariu is a popular beach at weekends and there is safe swimming in the sea. From the villa it is about a 25 min walk into the town (and more on the way back!). The runners and walkers did various early morning routes from the villa, some along the coast. It is an area which will improve your fitness levels without a doubt!

I loved the contemporary design of the villa and often felt as though I was on the pages of Ideal Home magazine.

We all had a fantastic week and would recommend this villa without reservation. Communication with both the agency and the owners was top notch.

Overall, the accommodation was great. Architecturally, this is an amazing villa: view, very tasteful contemporary design and it is well-equipped. The sea views are stunning. Special thanks to Mark and CharmingVillas staff for attending my special needs such credit card payment type and length of stay. The CharmingVillas staff provided great communication overall. Minor issues: once we had a power loss, and on some evenings we had issues with the hot water availability. 

The villa is a bit far from Barcelona airport, but the location is great and the view is absolutely spectacular.

We used Tripadvisor to pick the best restaurants. The village of Tamariu has several good seafood restaurants.  Additionally, we drove around, dining in the surrounding towns as well. We loved the Catalonia cuisine. There are plenty of other good sites and shops to visit.

A few of my friends already interested in this villa based on my Facebook posts and yes, and I have already recommended it.

Last week of July and 1st week of August we have spent our holidays at Vila Roca. We were warmly welcomed by the owners Mark and Tristan. 

What an awesome place to stay! The house really surpassed our expectations. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortably equipped,
and the view from both the swimming pool and master bedroom is just astonishing!

We brought our children (ages 16 and 19) and their friends. With the help of a rental car they could easily find their own way at night (Platja d’Aro for nightlife) and during the day (Palamos for beach).
Tamariu is a lovely small village directly at the beach with excellent places to have a lunch or dinner (Es Dofi was our favorite) but during the day it is hard to find a parking or beach spot.

One can make exceptional beautiful costal walks starting from Tamariu, during the walk you will not only find beautiful viewing points, but also nice restaurants for lunch or dinner,
for example the food at El Far is delicious!

Vila Roca is just a great starting point to explore the beautiful coast roads, villages, beaches, restaurants and cities like Gerona and Barcelona. But moreover Vila Roca is a heavenly place to spend your holiday.

Fabulous contemporary villa with awesome views

We stayed at Villa La Roca for 2 weeks this July. We hadn't been to the area for years and were looking for somewhere bang in the middle of the beautiful Costa Brava coast to rediscover its charms. The villa was a knockout from the start. An amazing piece of architecture perched on the rocks with awesome views that were so big you nearly got neck-ache from trying to take it all in. The amenities were fab, from fully equipped kitchen & bbq right through to divine bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms in a style we love. We cooked a lot and also popped out to the local bars and cafes which were only 5-10 minutes away. There were plenty of local tourist materials in the villa for us to make plans, but our hosts gave us a bundle of top tips on our arrival re restaurants and markets etc which were definitely spot on. The Wednesday market in Begur was a bit hit with our teen daughter and her friend, whilst our 11 yr old son & his buddy loved the boat hire from Begur boats complete with captain to whizz us around the bays and show us the spectacular scenery from another angle. All in all a great location, lovely contemporary villa and a good time had by all - we would definitely recommend Charming Villas Catalonia to friends... in fact my social media feeds were abuzz with people asking where we were - the wonders of modern life!

We had a great week in this stunning villa. The views both inside and outside are phenomenal and make the every day activities such as reading, drinking coffee, lunch dinner, etc so much more enjoyable. The BBQ on the roof top with the chill area always made for a great end of the day. Apart from that we and the kids loved the pool obviously. The villa was also a great home coming after our short excursions in the area. We liked the near by enclosure/beach for snorkeling, the town of Begur and a bit further the old town Port LLigat known for the Dali museum.
