Another wonderful stay at Villa Gelida

Our second visit to this villa with unrivalled views was every bit as enjoyable as our first time last year. In spite of the quarantine complications, are so glad we didn’t cancel, the beaches were well monitored and we enjoyed visiting Girona, though most days were spent locally, enjoying the marvellous premises and walking down to swim at the local cove. Impeccable service from house manager Jane and Charming Villas, who were very accommodating in the face of the ever-changing situation in terms of travel advice. Would definitely return!

Spectacular sea views

We have just spent a wonderful week at Villa Gelida and could not have been happier with the accommodation. The sea views on all sides are stunning, it feels as if the house has grown out of the rocks it is built upon. Bedrooms are very comfortable and there is a light, glass fronted living room which gives on to a dining terrace with a panoramic view over the coast. Most of our days were spent relaxing on the many terraces arranged at various levels on the property and around the pool. For longer swims, we walked along the footpath to the beach at Aguia Xelida or drove to Tamariu. Local beaches are all pretty though small and crowded in July, but the sea is lovely to swim in. We would go either early morning or late afternoon, before retreating to the space and privacy of the Villa’s grounds. We enjoyed visiting Pals, Palafrugell market and Sa Tuna. We found the house through Charming Villas who were very helpful and the check in with Jane friendly and straightforward. Highly recommended.

Exceeded our very high expectations

We loved everything about our recent stay at Villa Gelida. The property manager, was very helpful getting us settled in; we had a very minor issue w/the fuse box after arriving but the issue was solved within an hour. The property is stunning, well-maintained and comfortable. The beds were the most comfortable of our entire trip. We enjoyed day trips to Girona, Figueres, Cadaqués, etc. We had one of the best meals of our trip in Pals at Vicus. Both the Dali Theatre and the Dali Home museums were well worth the effort. In Tamariu we enjoyed dining at Es Dofi for lunch or afternoon tapas. Costa Brava is an incredible area and we will be back. I wouldn't hesitate to offer Charming Villas and specifically Villa Gelida, my highest recommendation.

Excellent villa and location

Stunning location and views that more than lived up to the website pictures.  Located at the end of a road so zero traffic noise and totally unobstructed views.  A few different outdoor spots to sit in to avoid the wind or sun as required.

We were 4 adults and 3 kids (8, 9 and 12).  We only used the 3 bedrooms in the lower floor of the villa.  There was another bedroom accessed by an inconvenient elevator ride away, but we didn't need that. Villa had everything we needed.  Steep hills all around so a car was essential. 

The local town was nice though parking a bit of a challenge. Begur only a 10 minute drive away with lots of food options and ok parking.  Less than an hour to Girona airport.

We loved this house. Great for adults and older children. It was just like the photos. The location is awesome - great views, quiet, and private. Tamariu was nice - but very crowded in August. No parking for the beach. Would recommend making reservations for kayaks or boats in advance. Would definitely recommend.

Breathtaking views

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Gelida. The view was simply stunning, with a panoramic view at the top of the cliff. Ideally situated close to Tamariu, which allowed us to explore various parts of the Costa Brava. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay, and wish it was longer. A short 10-15 min drive to Begur, we had one of our best meals at the Turandot Restaurant. Highly recommended! We hope to revisit the Costa Brava soon, and would definitely use Charming Villas again, their service has been fantastic throughout. 5 Stars.

Its all about the views!

The views from the Villa are truly breathtaking.From the dramatic cliffs to the North, to the swirling currents below,you could spend a week just admiring the views from Villa Gelida. The setting is wonderfully quiet at the end of a cul de sac and the location in Tamariu is great for exploring the Emporda. The steep hills make it challenging to walk into town and we abandoned our plans to cycle as pull up the hill was too much after a long lunch at the beach. The house really only suits six people as the fourth bedroom is really small and shares a bathroom. The seperate flat downstairs is great for a couple looking for a bit of extra slleping time or an afternoon siesta. The villa is well equipped but the kitchen is small so it best suits a family which is happy to leave the cooking to one or two people. The housekeeper Jane is brilliant and a great asset. As always (our fifth house with them) Richard and Sara at Charming Villas are incredibly helpful

Wonderful stay at Villa Gelida. Accommodation was excellent and the views were absolutely fantastic. We would happily have stayed longer and would love to return. The Costa Brava coastline was lovely and although we did enjoy visiting nearby villages and had a lovely bike ride to beach outside Palafrugell we were more than happy to spend most of our stay enjoying the villa, its pool and amazing views. Cannot recommend this villa more highly.
