Masia Cap de Creus: Costa Brava area

With a total build of 600 sqm and sitting in the middle of its own 100 hectares of parkland, Masia Cap de Creus is perfect for those who are looking for something special, something a little bit different in the middle of a national park. 

The owners have undertaken an extraordinary restoration project of a Masia dating from the 1750s which has taken over six years and has been a real labour of love. The end result is remarkable, a unique property that oozes class, style and modern comforts.

Working closely with the local authorities the owners have sympathetically transformed this spawling farmhouse bringing it back to life and in to the 21st Century. Original features have been maintained and all existing materials reused or recycled where possible. 

Totally off-grid the house runs on solar panels and batteries, has its own water well which is filtered and treated for drinking. With thick stone wall, and well insulated ceilings the house remains cool in the summer and warm during the winter. Six of the seven bedrooms have air conditioning, the Master suite and bedroom 7 apartment has underfloor heating & cooling.

With a total of seven ensuite bedrooms the layout of the house is as follows:

"The Master Suite". Split over two levels with spacious kitchen / dining and interconnecting living room. Upstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. Outdoor terrace and garden.  (This is where the owners live during the mid and low season.)

"The Old House". The main section of the Masia has three ensuite bedrooms, a living room with fitted sofas and fireplace, a library, kitchen / dining area, cloakroom and private outdoor terrace and garden. There is an inter-connecting door from the kitchen, leading to the master suite, which can be accessed when renting the whole house together.

"The Stable Suite". Set apart from the main house and sitting proud above the swimming pool the stable has been converted into a spacious bedroom with California King size bed, ensuite bathroom, private sitting area with wood burning stove.  This suite has two private terraces, one of which is covered.

"The Garde Suite".  The Garden Suite, also has its own separate access via a wheelchair-friendly ramp. The room has a king size bed, ensuite bathroom, sitting area and wood burning stove and a private terrace.  Bedroom 7 is tucked away at the back of the house, has a double bed, ensuite bathroom and small kitchen. It is the only room that does not have views.

Outdoors

Set in the middle of the Cap de Creus national park, the house sits beside a grove of elm trees and a little stream. To one side is an olive grove with more than 40 centennial trees and on the other, the kitchen garden.  There a number of hiking trails that go past the house. Perfect for relaxation and with no light pollution the garden are a wonderful spot for watching the stars.  There is a 13m long salt-water pool with outdoor shower, for swimming or just relaxing, deckchairs and hammocks are available. There are spots for outdoor seating, dining, and reading all over the property.

Secluded and peaceful, the farm is ideally located for easy access to the night life and restaurants of Cadaques, el Port de la Selva and the beaches of Roses.

Air conditioning in bedrooms 1 - 6 (bedroom 7 is well insulated from the heat and does not need AC). Underfloor heating and cooling. Wood burning stoves in the bedrooms. Good quality Wifi throughout the house.

Distances

Roughly 15 minutes by car from Cadaques, Roses and Port de la Selva. Barcelona 2 hours.
