Costa Brava Farmhouse: Costa Brava area

Dating from the 1840's this grand Catalan Masia is spacious and private. Located in a sough after spot walking distance to a small village the house makes a great base for exploring the Medieval villages of the Baix Emporda and many of the best beaches on the Costa Brava are within a 20 minute drive.

The house is located at the end of a small country track which opens out on to a gravel forecourt with ample parking for four or five cars. Ancient oak doors lead to the striking main entrance lobby with its typical Catalan vaulted ceiling and period Olive oil press. Various doors lead off from this spacious main lobby including stairs leading upstairs to the three main suites and a door which leads to the main living/dining room and through to the kitchen.

The authentic and rustic kitchen enjoys some modern elements such as large American style double fridge/freezer, dishwasher, gas range and Krups coffee machine. Rustic elements which have been preserved include an old bread oven which all of these old Catalan Masia's had in the past. A corner fireplace with chimney which would have served as the stove in times gone by. Kitchen table for six. Access to bedrooms 5 & 6.

The owners are making some improvements for the 2023 summer season and will be sprucing up the living room sofas and creating additional outdoor seating and dining areas. 6-8 good quality sun loungers will also be provided for the pool area.

The upper floor consists of a large open space with authentic oak beams, comfy sofas, antique furniture and access to an outdoor roof terrace with seating and views of the village. The three bedrooms all lead off from this upper salon. These three bedrooms are spacious, light and airy. All linen and towels are hotel quality and good standard toiletries are provided. Earthy pastel coloured fabrics and original terracotta floor tiles offer a warm and relaxing ambiance. These three bedrooms all have Ikohs air coolers.

The three bedrooms on the lower level are perhaps better suited for children or teenagers. Bedroom four is access from the main entrance lobby and bedrooms five and six are accessed through a connecting door from the kitchen. There is also a small courtyard linking bedroom four with bedrooms five and six.

Brand new air conditioning units installed in two of the bedrooms and the living room for the 2024 season.

Recommended for up to maximum four adults (two couples) plus children.

Bedrooms 5 & 6 share bathroom with bathtub and incorporated shower.

Living Spaces

The inviting main living/dining room area with high ceilings is spacious yet cosy at the same time. Glass doors leads out directly to the mature gardens and pool area. Ample sofas face bookshelves and a large Smart TV with international channels. An interesting circular dining table incorporates a rotating central section designed for ease of sharing dishes. Fireplace.

The upper salon and adjoining roof terrace offer a haven of tranquillity and is a good place to relax with a book or a mid-afternoon siesta.

Outdoors

The enclosed gardens enjoy well kept lawns and are adorned with mature pine and cypress trees offering shade. The 10m x 5m fenced pool has outdoor furniture and sun loungers and enjoys views of the village in the distance. Fig and linden trees offer a superb shaded area with dining table and chairs. A chill-out area by the pool and new outdoor dining table. Raised pond with lilies and goldfish will keep the children occupied. Charcoal BBQ.

Household Amenities

Fibre optic internet in most of the rooms. Smart TV with international channels. Krups coffee machine. Air conditioning in two of the bedrooms and in the living room.

Locally based we offer a free bespoke concierge service to all of our clients. We can help arrange a whole range of extra services including securing tables at top restaurants and private chefs to cook for you at the villa. We can help plan itineraries, suggest excursions such as a day trip to Cadaques and help with car hire/airport transfers if needed.

Distances

Walking distance to the village of Mont-Ras. Palafrugell less than 10 minutes' by car. A large selection of beaches between 15-20 minutes' by car. Girona 45 minutes, Barcelona 90 minutes.
