Casa Pals is an old town house which has been restored and decorated to a very high standard. With exposed stone walls, good quality fixtures and fittings and earthy pastel fabrics the house oozes calm. The owners have done a superb job and the finished product is a very cosy and comfortable space where you immediately feel at home. Through the front door there's a good-sized entrance foyer with typical Catalan vaulted ceiling and which leads through to the open plan kitchen and dining area which in turn leads through to the lounge seating area with sofas and chairs surrounding a central coffee table and antique fireplace. Leading on from the lounge area is access to the private walled garden to the back of the house.
To the left of the entrance foyer is a second reception room with a WC. Stairs lead up to the upper level where one finds a informal seating area, perfect place for young ones to practice on the play station. Two bedrooms each with twin single beds, an office which has a single bed and the spacious master suite with views over the garden.

Located in the heart of the historic village of Pals, this property provides immediate access to the village’s atmospheric medieval streets, cafés, restaurants and traditional shops. Beyond the old town, the surrounding Baix Empordà offers a remarkable combination of medieval villages, long sandy beaches and the rocky coves of the Costa Brava. With the nearest beaches only a short drive away and the famous coastline around Begur also easily accessible, the property provides a convenient base for exploring both the countryside and the Mediterranean. Pals itself is widely recognised for its beautifully preserved medieval quarter and its surrounding landscapes of farmland, wetlands and rice fields.
Historic villages & local heritage
- Pals: The historic village rises above the Empordà plain, surrounded by medieval walls and dominated by the distinctive Torre de les Hores. Its narrow cobbled streets, stone buildings, Gothic architecture and historic squares make it one of the most atmospheric medieval villages in the region.
- Peratallada: Around 10 minutes away, this beautifully preserved fortified village is characterised by winding stone streets, ancient walls, towers and historic buildings, offering another glimpse into the medieval heritage of the Baix Empordà.
- Begur: Also around 10 minutes away, the historic hilltop town is centred around the remains of its medieval castle and is known for its cobbled streets, traditional stone houses and distinctive indiano architecture.
Beaches & coastal landscapes
- Platja de Pals & Platja del Racó: Around 10 minutes away, these broad sandy beaches provide a very different coastal experience from the smaller coves of Begur. Platja de Pals stretches alongside dunes, pine forests and wetlands, while Platja del Racó lies beside Begur and is connected by the coastal path to Illa Roja and Sa Riera.
- Illa Roja & Sa Riera: These spectacular beaches and coves are also around 10 minutes away. Illa Roja is famous for its striking reddish rock rising from the sea, while Sa Riera combines a broad sandy beach with the traditional character of Begur’s coastline.
- The coves of Begur: Around 20 minutes away, the coastline around Aiguablava, Sa Tuna and Platja Fonda offers a succession of crystal-clear coves, pine-covered cliffs and rugged Mediterranean scenery.
- L’Estartit & the Medes Islands: Around 20 minutes away, L’Estartit is the main gateway to the Medes Islands and the spectacular Montgrí coast. The surrounding natural park combines rugged coastline, hidden coves, beaches and a protected marine environment, making the area particularly attractive for boat trips, snorkelling and diving.

From start to finish, the process of finding this home, renting it and settling into it was filled with ease. The staff at Charming Villas was helpful from the jump. Once we arrived at the home, we had access to the house manager's number via WhatsApp and had any question we had answered within minutes. Casa Pals was everything we needed for our family vacation. We are from The US so having air conditioning in the downstairs living room and two of the bedrooms made the stay very comfortable. We used the kitchen every day and it was stocked with anything you could need to cook with. The couches in the living room downstairs were incredibly comfortable and perfect for movie nights and cartoons in the morning. We used the pool daily as well and enjoyed cocktails on the back patio after a day at the beach. What we loved most about this home, aside from the home itself, was the proximity to at least 10 different beaches, all only about a 15 minute drive away. Casa Pals is also located only a short walk to the medieval village of Pals, where we would go daily to enjoy shopping, live music, a beer or an ice cream in the late afternoon. This was our first trip as a family to Spain and we will be back!
