Perched on a hillside at the foot of the Pyrenees, and offering splendid views over the Garrotxa region, this Costa Brava vacation home is a luxuriously restored 18th century Catalan Masia.
Immersed in a tranquil haven, and with more than 35 hectares of private grounds, the house is yet only 15 km to the medieval town of Besalú, declared a national historical and artistic site due to its architectural wealth.
Can Serola can be rented as a whole or the house can be split into different parts and rented independently. When renting the whole house this comes with the 10 bedrooms, three kitchens, various living areas plus private use of the garden and pool. When renting part of the house or the apartment, the gardens and pool may be shared with other guests.
The property has been renovated with impeccable taste and attention to detail, converting it into a stylish, intimate and unique home. On one hand, it offers high-tech modern comforts whilst retaining the historic charm and character of the original building. On the other hand, its 10 rooms have been originally and exclusively decorated, evoking the owner’s great travels around the world.
The property is distributed in four levels, the top one of which is a self contained two bedroom apartment with large spacious living area. The other three levels are composed by 8 themed bedrooms, two spacious living rooms (for summer and winter) two kitchens (one large, for professionals, one small for guests) dining room; massage room (which can also be used as a child room), sauna and various terraces.
The house is on the edge of the High Garrotxa natural protected area and short distance to the volcanic park, excellent for hiking and mountain biking. It has breath-taking views of rugged mountains, whose sides are clothed in leafy woodland with verdant valleys, well-manicured fields and rocks that come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes.

We took a mixed age group (20/s - 50's) of 18 to Can Serola this summer. Happily I had stayed there in it's previous incarnation as a B&B and it was just as magical as I had remembered. Each bedroom is beautifully styled and the grounds are extensive. Having a 15M pool meant there was plenty of space both for recreation and exercise. Many of our party ran / cycled / walked directly from the house in the mornings, and found wonderful routes. Dinner on the terrace at night was a delight. Sarah and Richard were very responsive and capable. We will definitely be back!
