Area information
Located beside the spectacular Aiguablava cove, this property is perfectly placed for discovering one of the most characteristic stretches of the Costa Brava. The area combines crystal-clear Mediterranean waters, pine-covered cliffs, hidden coves and scenic coastal paths with the historic villages and cultural heritage of the Baix Empordà. Aiguablava itself is known for its turquoise, shallow waters and sheltered bay, while the GR-92 coastal path offers beautiful walks along the rugged coastline.
Beaches & coastal landscapes
- Aiguablava: One of the most renowned coves on the Costa Brava, with fine sand, clear turquoise waters and a sheltered setting surrounded by pine-covered cliffs. The beach is just a few minutes’ walk from the property via the Camí de Ronda.
- Camí de Ronda from Aiguablava to Platja Fonda: One of the most spectacular coastal walks in the area, following the rugged shoreline between Aiguablava, the small hidden coves and the wild Platja Fonda. The route combines sea views, pine forests and rocky coastal scenery.
- Platja Fonda: A beautiful, unspoilt cove below the cliffs of Begur, known for its natural surroundings and wild character.
- Aigua Xelida & Tamariu: Aigua Xelida is a small, intimate sandy cove surrounded by rocks and vegetation, while nearby Tamariu is a charming former fishing village centred around a picturesque beach.
- Sa Tuna: A picturesque pebble cove that still preserves its traditional fishermen’s houses, surrounded by pine-covered cliffs and clear Mediterranean waters.
- Sa Riera: A larger sandy beach with a more open setting, offering a different atmosphere from the smaller coves around Begur.
Historic villages & local heritage
- Begur: Built around the remains of its medieval castle, Begur combines narrow historic streets, traditional stone houses and distinctive architecture influenced by the local indianos, families who returned from the Americas after making their fortunes overseas.
- Calella de Palafrugell: One of the most characterful former fishing villages on the Costa Brava, known for its whitewashed fishermen’s houses, narrow streets and sheltered coastal setting. The coastal path connects it with neighbouring Llafranc.
- Pals: A beautifully preserved medieval village in the heart of the Baix Empordà, with cobbled streets, old stone buildings, defensive walls and the impressive Torre de les Hores.
- Peratallada: A remarkable fortified medieval village built directly onto the surrounding sandstone, with winding streets, old walls, towers and a castle-palace that evoke the village’s medieval past.
Further along the Costa Brava
- Sant Sebastià Lighthouse: Set high above the coast between Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell, the lighthouse overlooks one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in the region and offers exceptional panoramic views across the Mediterranean.
- Nautical activities: The sheltered waters around Aiguablava are also ideal for enjoying the sea, with local services offering opportunities for activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and diving.
