The Dali Castle, located in the town of Púbol, near Girona, hosts for the 2011 season an exhibition of photographic experiments that the surrealist painter of Figueres did with New York photographer Philippe Halsman. Halsman was one of the most important photographers of the twentieth century. He made more than 100 covers for Life magazine and portrayed celebrities like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Alfred Hitchcock, Marlon Brando, Cary Grant, among others. In 1941 Halsman met Dalí and they began a close and brilliant collaboration that lasted 40 years. They produced together some memorable and innovative pictures without the use of Photoshop! This temporary exhibition of 88 photographs can be seen until December 31, 2011 when the house-museum will close its doors to the public until the following March. |
