Unique and iconic "Indianos" house available for holiday rentals close to Begur on the Costa Brava.

Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, some Catalans decided to travel to the Americas to seek their fortune and try to take advantage of the many possibilities offered by the Spanish colonies on the other side of the Atlantic. These adventurers were known as "Indianos". Many returned to their hometowns after making their fortunes and imported a colonial type of architecture for the construction of their new homes. Today one finds Indiano houses dotted along the Costa Brava and as far as we are aware this is the only one we have seen on the rental market.

Built in 1918 the house stayed in the same family until the mid 2010's when it was bought and transformed into the wonderful family vacation home we find today. Structurally the house has changed little since it was built however the owners have created a beautiful contemporary and comfortable home which they have decided to share.

As one would expect the house has many original features such as the Catalan "hydraulic tiles" which first appeared in Catalonia in the 1850's and are synonymous with Gaudi and the Modernism movement of the early 1900's. Gorgeous high vaulted ceilings and decorated with original works of art in a contemporary and classic style.

The house has a total of 987sqm and sits within a plot of 4800sqm. The upper floor has a lovely terrace which totally encompasses the whole house and where one can take in the wonderful sea views. Within the grounds one finds a small private chapel which was built at the same time as the house. A large 13m long salt water pool with adjacent outdoor kitchen area with BBQ, dining table, fridge and shower.

An additional one bedroom guest house with double bed and shower is located adjacent to the main house.

Living Spaces

The ground floor is a series of three rooms which were originally bedrooms. These three interconnecting rooms have been transformed in to a kitchen area which leads through to a dining room area which in turn leads through to a lounge/sitting room area. The sofas are original with the house and have been re-upholstered. 

Outdoors

Large private garden enjoying sea views and with a 13m long swimming pool with shallow platform and steps, outdoor dining area and BBQ. Private chapel. Garage for one car and additional space for up to three or four more cars. Space for Petanque. Direct access from the garden to the road down to the beach.

Modern fully equipped kitchen with gas hobs. 

Distances

Five minute walk to the beach. Less than 10 minutes' to Pals and to Begur.

Weekly Rates

9700€ throughout the year. Friday changeover day during peak season.

Price includes a mid-week clean. Additional cleaning is available upon request and is paid directly to the cleaners.

Final clean is included in this price.
