Originally a fishing village, Calella de Palafrugell maintains a lot of its original charm and has not been spoiled by over development. With a mixture of Spanish and Catalan 2nd home owners and European tourists, Calella offers it’s visitors a wonderful laid back, slow paced alternative to modern day city life.

You will not find mass tourism or rows of bars that are open until the early hours churning out load music. It is a family orientated area that offers the visitor a stunning environment full of coves, cliffs and clear crystal blue waters to explore. Located to the south of Calella you will find one of Europe’s finest botanical gardens at Cap Roig. Started in 1928 by the Russian Woevodski family here you can spend your time admiring the huge collection of stunning Mediterranean flora. The Cap Roig music festival is held here every year with a wonderful variety of stage disciplines, dance, opera, jazz and classical music. This year the festival has a star-studded international programme including Chicago, Sting, Julio Iglesias, Tom Jones and many top Spanish and international artists. The dates are from the 15th July until the 21st August. More information at: http://www.festivalcaproig.com/?lang=en |
