Michelin Guide confirms Catalonia as gourmet region of Spain

Four more restaurants in Catalonia have been awarded one star, and one restaurant adds a second one. Unfortunately four restaurants have lost their rating. Overall,a positive result that helps to confirm the projection of Catalan cuisine worldwide.

In the 2011 Michelin Guide to Spain&Portugal Catalonia will have a total of 57 stars distributed between 46 restaurants, the best known worldwide are the four Catalan restaurants with three-stars, which have maintain their rating : El Bulli, in Roses (Girona); Can Fabes, in Sant Celoni (Barcelona); Sant Pau, in Sant Pol de Mar (Barcelona); El Celler de Can Roca (Girona)

Three stars mean exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey; two stars are for excellent cooking, worth a detour; one star denotes a very good restaurant in its category.
