El Bulli opened its doors yesterday for its last season as a restaurant before being turned into a foundation for culinary creativity. Once called the “Salvador Dali of the kitchen", Ferran Adria and his restaurant –often referred to as the best in the world - have been breaking boundaries for 25 years, processing more than 8 million reservation requests per year, while only seating 60 customers for lunch and dinner. It’s been considered the ultimate mecca for foodies and many of its customers have planed entire Spanish vacations around a reservation at this restaurant. On July 30th 2011 El Bulli will have completed its journey, but its transformation as a creativity center in 2014 will ensure that its spirit is continued in the culinary world. |
