In the year 1491 when Columbus was preparing to set sail for the "New World", Masia Mas Oms was just reaching the end of its construction. More than 500 years later the house has undertaken many reforms and alterations and its walls have many tales to tell. In the 18th and 19th centuries previous owners cultivated olive oil and wine here. However after the devastating fire of 1928 which decimated the Gavarres, the house and grounds were abandoned to nature. 90 years after being abandoned, the ruined house was brought back to life by the current owners in a loving five-year project.

Today Masia Mas Oms is a chic boutique eco-friendly hotel and which is also available to rent as a luxury vacation rental home. The home has a lot to offer the traveller and is perfect for those who above all seek tranquility, nature and comfort away from the crowds. The six bedrooms have top of the range eco-friendly beds, mattresses and linen and are furnished in calming neutral colours. People sleep so well here we are often asked by clients where they can buy the mattresses!

The house consists of 600m of living space and sits within 10 Hectares of private forest. The extremely thick walls offer incredible insulation against the heat of summer and the cold of winter keeping a comfortable internal temperature all year round. State-of-the-art fans are provided in the bedrooms if needed.

The Gavarres Massif covers almost 30,000 hectares or 300 square miles in total. The most common trees are Holm oak, pine and Cork oak. The Gavarres is a perfect destination for nature lovers to enjoy walking, cycling and bird-watching. Masia Mas Oms is also a perfect destination for company retreats as well as yoga and wellness retreats. Even though the Masia enjoys total peace and quiet with zero traffic noise or light pollution, towns and amenities are within a 15/20 minute drive and the Costa Brava beaches are reachable in 45 minutes by car.

The house enjoys a real eclectic mix of styles from 1920's Czech wardrobes, reclaimed Dutch church chairs in the dining room to modern wall art. No TV however one can be provided if requested.

Please note staff live on site in a separate self-contained part of the house and take care of cleaning and maintenance.

Bedrooms 1-3 are located on the lower level and bedrooms 4-6 on the middle level.

Bedroom 1. King size double.

Bedroom 2. Large family room with King size double and twin single beds is separate area. Sitting room area and private outdoor terrace leading to garden.

Bedroom 4. King size double.

Bedroom 5. King size double. Private East-facing great sun terrace great for morning sun.

All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers except bedroom 5 which has a bathtub with incorporated shower. Heated towel racks.

Eco-friendly toiletries are provided in all bedrooms.

 

Living Spaces

The house has two main indoor living areas; the middle floor with a beautiful open-plan kitchen/dining and seating area and a second attic space with bookshelves, games and seating areas. The modern and beautiful Miele kitchen is a cook's dream with all the appliances one could wish for including a cool looking suspended carbon extractor fan, two dishwashers, two ovens, two fridges and a Philips coffee machine. 

 

Outdoors

Surrounded by forest the house is perfect for morning country walks. A 9.5m x 3.7m infinity pool which can be heated during the months of April to October. Good quality sun loungers. Various outdoor areas to sit including hammocks under oak trees. A summer vegetable garden. Nearby chapel dating to the year 1100. Petanque, childrens' swings and a 15m zip line. Built-in trampoline.
