Sitting on the outskirts of a small village close to La Bisbal, this superb, recently renovated 17th century Masia is perfect for those who wish to be within walking distance to a village, accessible to beaches yet in a quiet and tranquil setting.
Restored and decorated to the highest standard, Mas Figuera is a welcoming Costa Brava vacation rental house where one instantly feels comfortable and relaxed. The décor is stylish with a traditional feel, with cool terracotta floor tiles, exposed wooden beams and vaulted ceilings. Thick stone walls keep the house fresh and cool during hot summer temperatures.
Upon entering the house you come into a charming lobby with Catalan vaulted ceiling. Leading off from the lobby on the left you enter into the living room which also has a vaulted ceiling. This long living room is naturally divided into two separate ends. At one end you find the open fireplace, TV and comfortable seating for 10 people. The other end of the living room looks out onto the garden through a large window and also has seating for around 8/10 people. This is a nice place to relax, sit and read. There is a door leading from the living room to the garden.
The dining room is accessible from the lobby. Once again the dining room has a vaulted Catalan ceiling and table and chairs for eight and looks out through a large window onto an outdoor summer dining area and the manicured garden.
The cosy and charming Catalan country style kitchen has a table and chairs for six people. There is also a door leading out from the kitchen into an outdoor covered dining area and the garden.
One other door from the lobby leads to a WC and a pantry/laundry room.
At the end of the lobby original stone steps take you to the upper floor where you find an open space with one wall covered with books. This is another good place to sit and read in peace and comfort. Four en-suite bedrooms lead off from here consisting of two doubles and two twins. The master bedroom has a lovely terrace overlooking the garden. All the bedrooms have their own touches of colour and rich fabrics and air conditioning.
Outside a charming and secluded retreat awaits. Four large mature fig trees giving great shade during the summer months, and a great modern pool that has been cleverly inserted into this rustic setting.
Sitting within the grounds is a modern self-contained guest annexe which has an en-suite double bedroom and full air conditioning throughout. Recently refurbished, the ground floor consists of a living space with sofas and TV and a kitchenette. The bedroom is located on the first floor and is fully air conditioned. The annexe also houses a chill-out/BBQ area perfect for relaxing evenings. If you are searching for luxury villas in Spain then look no further, Mas Figuera has it all.

The main house has 4 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms on the first floor, as well as a guest WC on the ground floor. All bedrooms have air conditioning.

Outdoors
The beautiful 1500sqm lawned garden is very private and not overlooked from anywhere. Four large mature fig trees give great shade during the summer months.
The 5m x 10m meter pool sits in an elevated position at the far end of the garden and has a covered porch at one end. Summer dining area and chill-out/BBQ area.

We can help arrange a whole range of extra services including securing tables at top restaurants and private chefs to cook for you at the villa. We can help plan itineraries, suggest excursions such as a Cadaques day trip and help with car hire/airport transfers if needed.

A Home away from Home
We stayed at Mas Figuera for 2 weeks (mid to end of June 2018) and had a wonderful experience. The house is a converted farm house (a little less than an acre) located in the SMALL hamlet of Fonteta about a km from the larger town of La Bisbal de Emporda. The house entrance is located on a small but modern, concrete and brick lined street that is quiet. Parking is always readily available on the street and a stone's throw away is a wonderful cheese shop selling a fresh cheese for which the town is known. Fonteta itself, a collection of 16th century (or earlier) buildings has no other stores to speak of so most shopping is down by car in nearby La Bisbal or Palafrugell.
The house itself was absolutely stunning. With a true "home" feeling, the house is structured and configured well. It is spacious and amazingly well appointed with all the necessary kitchen appliances and utensils (we are big cooks). It is more than capable of entertaining with plenty of service-ware and space. There are several wonderful and distinct areas to the house including little nooks for reading and relaxing. Outside, the manicured and well-maintained grounds offer sitting space beneath 3 aged figs, which provide a shadowed respite from the Spanish sun. A raised pool area is separate enough to provide distance from the main house but close enough to watch children. A separate structure – an old barn area – has been transformed into a loft and living room providing a perfect accommodation for another couple or guests (or in our case a teenager and her friend!). We met the owner through Charming Villas. He was more than gracious and went above and beyond to share details of local shopping, restaurants, sites and customs – only something a local would know. He could not have been more helpful or welcoming – leaving us with several bottles of wine and basics beverages in the refrigerator. His approachability and warmth made such a difference in our arrival – we knew it would be a terrific stay.
If I had a couple of MINOR points of feedback (and please know this completely personal to our needs). I would have a few more “beach” towels for the pool and or to take for the day to the beach. The upstairs master bedroom tends to get quite hot and the air still (even with opening opposing windows and doors for cross breeze – there is very little). Perhaps some kind a fan to move the air a bit. The same holds true for the downstairs living room. Even with the back door open, the air does not move much and it can get quite hot. But again, these are minor.
From the first interaction with Charming Villas, the experience was wonderful. Our main contact Richard, was attentive, responsive and carefully listened to our preferences and wishes. His deep knowledge of the properties and the surrounding areas made him an invaluable resource when making a decision on something (site-unseen) from 6,000 miles away. In addition to his interactions, he had added some personal help in securing a much-desired restaurant reservation that could otherwise not be attained. The administration and contracting support from Charming Villas was equally carefree. The group’s extended relationships with vendors supplying everything from site-seeing tours to wine tours, to more sporty activities, was immensely helpful and efficient.
I was told Charming Villas has not been around too long but their comprehensive set of services and customer attention, make the experience feel as though you are working with a company with years of experience. I would gladly use them again to rent a property and plan a vacation and recommend them for anyone looking to book a wonderful experience.
