Predominantly used as a wedding venue this spectacular restored 14th century country house sits in a peaceful elevated location within the Gavarres mountain range. It enjoys splendid panoramic views of the mountains and the Costa Brava, yet is only a 15/20 minute drive to some of the most popular beaches along the whole Catalan coastline.

Lovingly restored over a five year period everything about this house oozes class. The owners have spared no expense in the restoration using high quality materials, fabrics and furnishings. Spread over three floors each room has its own unique ambience of rustic elegance and charm.

The main house consists of eight suites with two further en-suite bedrooms in a separate guest house within the grounds. The house also incorporates a luxury Spa with indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym and sauna.

The Ground floor consists of a large entrance hall with amazing original vaulted ceiling, a spacious living room with fireplace, reading area and TV room. There is also dining room with seating for 20. The fully equipped kitchen includes a breakfast table for six and an outdoor dining area accessed via the kitchen which includes BBQ and outdoor kitchen facilities.

Also on the ground floor you find the Spa with interior swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym and sauna which are serviced by two WC and two shower rooms.

There is one bedroom on the ground floor which is wheelchair accessible. This has its own independent access and is a perfect room for private staff.

Upon reaching the first floor one enters into a majestic landing hall with six bedrooms leading off from this central area. The first floor also has 140m2 of communal sun terraces with outdoor furniture.

The second floor consists of a bedroom and a snooker/TV room.


Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Ground floor

Bedroom 1:  Twin beds with shower. With independent access and wheelchair accessible. Perfect for private staff.

First Floor

Bedroom 2: has a king sized bed, a sofa and an armchair and a quiet space with a TV, fridge and reading area. The en-suite bathroom has a hydro massage shower and a 100m2 private terrace with wonderful views.

Bedroom 3: King sized bed with two sofas and shower.

Bedroom 4: is specially prepared for children with two sets of bunk beds and two singles which can be put together to create a queen sized bed. There is an additional space within the bedroom for children to play and the bathroom is adapted for younger children.

Bedroom 5: Double with shower.

Bedroom 6: Double with en-suite bathroom with shower.

Bedroom 7: Double with 30m2 private terrace. En-suite bathroom with shower.

Top floor

Bedroom 8: Double with great panoramic views. En-suite bathroom with shower.


Living areas

Spacious hall with reading and seating areas under a vaulted ceiling. Large dining area with capacity for up to 20 people. Fireplace lounge and spacious living room with comfortable furniture to relax, with television and DVD player. Snooker Room withTV and sofa.


Household facilities

Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, 2 refrigerators, 2 freezers, blender, juicer, microwave oven, Toaster, two ovens, nespresso Coffee maker.

Stainless steel BBQ grill & outdoor sink, fridge and freezer. 

TVs, DVD player, CD player, central stereo on ground floor, telephone, Snooker table, washing machine, tumble dryer, baby crib, highchair, hair dryers. 

Central heating, air conditioning and wifi are all available throughout the house. 

Spa : Nestled on the ground floor within the main house in what was once the bodega is the Spa- Gymnasium withan indoor acclimatized pool with hydro massage jets and salt electrolysis system, a Finnish sauna and different kinds of exercise equipment.



The house has many terraces plus an outdoor dining area with table and chairs. The swimming pool incorporates a changing room and WC and two “chill-out” areas with comfortable seating. There is also an events space suitable for meals, wine tastings etc.


Guest house

The guest house within the grounds consists of two double en-suite bedrooms with shared open plan living/dining area and fully equipped kitchen, central heating, air conditioning and wifi throughout the house. Please note this is rented separately.



A short drive to some of the Costa Brava’s most sought after beaches such as Calella de Palafruguell, Tamariu, Llafranc and Aiguablava. Girona 1 hour. Barcelona 1 hour 45 minutes.


Please note that the last 4km to the property are on a track which is unmade but accessible in an ordinary family car driven with appropriate care.

High season rental of the main house must also include rental of the annexe. All other periods the annexe is optional.

Refundable security deposit: 2000€

Arrival day: Saturday

Miminum stay: 1 week in the high season. 3 nights in the low and mid seasons.

Price includes: water, gas, electricity, central heating, air conditioning, wifi, bed linen and towels. 1 person-cleaning service included Monday to Friday (5 hours a day for the main house, 2 hours a day for the annexe).

BOOKING PROCEDURE - A deposit of 30% of the rental is payable at the time of booking and the balance of 70% is required 8 weeks before the start of the rental.

We've just returned from a two-week stay at Can Ginesta and all I can say is next time two-weeks will not be enough. While we were impressed with the presentation of this lovely masia through photos, pictures can not do this property justice. It is simply stunning in every way possible. The house, finely manicured property, and amenities are all finely appointed. The remodel was done with attention to detail, mixing old and new, making comfortable and contemporary accommodations while keeping the spirit of the original structure. The rooms are spacious, the overall feeling is airy and light, and the house is equipped with everything needed. Personal touches are everywhere from lovely soaps and bath gels to embroidered towels and guest slippers. It is simply charming on a grand scale. While the location is a 4km drive from the base of town, we realized the drive was not that bad as the house offered so much that our entire group (8 adults and 6 children) was perfectly happy to remain on the property to relax, play, swim, cook and spend many beautiful days and evenings outdoors. It is easily located near beautiful beaches and charming towns as well, so when we did decide to leave the house, we were not far from many attractions and day-trips. There is an incredible farmer's market every day down the hill in Palafrugell, beautiful medieval towns such as Pals and Begur as close as 15 minutes and the local cuisine whether simple or fancy is fantastic. The location is also convenient to airports (Girona and Barcelona) and the highways are easily accessible to the surrounding areas which consisted of beaches, mountains and countryside alike. The staff was lovely and always kept the property in tip-top condition. They were also readily available if we needed assistance with anything. The owners, Silvia and Josep, were gracious and eager to make sure everything went perfect for our stay, which passed way too quickly. Their hearts and pride were obvious in everything they created at Can Ginesta. I would definitely recommend this lovely masia to anyone looking for a beautiful country house with a somewhat large group. Richard and Sara at Charming Villas were right on target in recommending this property for our group. They were helpful with all of our inquiries and provided assistance with information regarding everything from hiring local chefs to rental cars to train schedules to local attractions. They are very well organized and made our trip so easy. I would highly recommend using them to help search for your perfect stay in Catalonia.
