Situated in a quiet rural setting, surrounded by fields and mountains, Can Serra makes an ideal base to spend a relaxing holiday.

However tranquil it may be, Can Serra is not isolated, and it is in fact set at an excellent location - just between the busy coast and the tranquil mountains.

It is just a short walk to a sleepy little village, and a very short drive to the wonderful historic town of Besalú.

This old stone-built farmhouse is a place full of contrasts. The owners have cleverly managed to mix different styles creating various vibrant areas of interest which give to the visitor complete opposite sensations: new and old, modern and rustic, sophisticated and simple.

The house is filled with an imaginative mix of modern and antiques.

The main part of the original farmhouse is a vast old living room, with fireplace, stonewalls and high ceilings. This room is filled with rusticity and comfort, and has plenty of personal touches dotted everywhere.

In contrast to this rustic living room, the owners decided to build the extension that now houses the wonderfully modern light-filled kitchen, containing the latest appliances and equipment. The kitchen has a big table custom-built to accommodate gatherings.

On the upper floor the simplicity of the bedrooms, keeping with the traditional character of the old family farmhouse, are a peaceful retreat that invite one to read, rest or relax.

Surrounding the house there is a large garden with and a great lap pool and unobstructed views across the fields.

Sleeps up to 6 people in 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Main house, upper floor: Bedroom 1 and 2 (Doubles, 150cm) & Bedroom 3 (Twin, 90cm), all sharing 1 bathroom. (Bath with handheld shower, toilet, bidet and sink)

Ground floor bathroom (small bathtub with hand held shower, toilet and a sink)

Annex Guest lounge: Bedroom 4(Double, 150cm) with en-suite bathroom (shower, toilet and sink)

Large living room with fireplace, spacious dinning area in the kitchen.

Lovely shaded areas for dining, and great lap pool (7.50m x 3.50m).

2012 Weekly Rental Rates

• 3885 Euros/week all seasons.

Refundable security deposit: 500 Euros

Arrival day: generally from Saturday to Saturday during the high season, but flexible whenever possible.

Minimum stay: 1 week in the high season.

Price includes: water, gas, electricity, bed linen and bath towels and pool towels. Daily housekeeping Monday to Friday.

We have had a a really fantastic time at Can Serra- can't think of a better place to unwind and relax, especially sitting by the pool staring out at the beautiful countryside and mountains. It's been the perfect place.
