Sant Bartomeu

Sant Bartomeu is a tastefully restored historic farmhouse and fortified rectory located in the heart of rolling countryside between Girona, Figueres and the medieval village of Besalu. Set at the top of a hill, it offers both privacy and wonderful views of the surrounding mountain ranges and countryside.

Restoration work began in 2002 and the owners have endeavoured to use traditional building materials in sympathy with the original architecture, but incorporating modern facilities in the interior to provide the highest standards of easy living and comfort.

There are three sections to the cluster of buildings. The main house has 4 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/dining room, a spacious living room with fireplace, and an informal sitting / TV room, conveniently situated besides the pool terrace.

The adjacent 13^th century chapel has a soaring cupola and has been dramatically reconfigured as an elegant living/dining room, ideal for entertaining. It has a mezzanine with a ¾ sized snooker table and computer, and access to a wonderful terrace with panoramic views.

Across the courtyard, the annex has two air-conditioned bedrooms with private bathrooms and terraces.

Outside there are well-maintained grounds with neat flowerbeds, lawns, a pond, and a small kitchen garden with fresh herbs and vegetables. There are several outdoor sitting areas, including a loggia with a barbecue and a dining table for 12.

Just six minutes away is Banyoles, a relatively major village besides a large lake that hosted the 1992 Olympics rowing events. It has excellent small restaurants, a charming central square and all services.

Sleeps up to 8 adults and 4 children in 6 bedrooms, all include en-suite bathrooms with showers.

Living Spaces

Spacious bright living/dining room with fireplace. Cosy TV/ sitting room, and open-plan, contemporary kitchen. Wonderful “Ermita”, that acts as a second dinning/sitting room.

Outdoors

Swimming pool (12 x 9m) with Jacuzzi & shower. Courtyard, loggia and terraces, that provide many options for outdoor eating or sitting with views of the mountains. Table tennis, boules court; golf swing practice driving tee.

Facilities

Well-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, TV (SKY TV, English Channels) ,DVD, CD stereo, central heating, telephone.

3/4 size snooker / billard table. Broadband internet connection and multi media computer. TV, Air conditioning in courtyard bedrooms; all others with fans.

The friendly owners live on site on a separate building. They are very discreet and will not interfere with your holiday and privacy.

2012 Weekly Rental Rates

Refundable security deposit: 1800€ euros 

Arrival Day: Friday

Price includes: water, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels. Housekeeping service twice weekly (Tuesday & Friday). Once weekly linen and twice weekly towel change.

Discounts available in June for groups of 6 or less.
