Can Riera

This incredible Catalan masia has been preserved over many centuries and it shows today all its splendor thanks to careful restorations over many years.

The origins of Can Riera date back to the Roman Empire, the oldest documented part being from 917 b.C.

An important extension was done in the 1800s, which is the part of the house that was restored in 2004 and is inhabitable today.

The property is located in the middle of beautiful countryside, and includes 260 hectares of woods and fields through which runs a small river. The woods are typically Mediterranean, a mixture of pine trees, cork oak trees and bushes. Cork trees are still used to produce some of the best cork wine caps in the world.

The house cleverly combines traditional elements with modern comfort facilities and it was beautifully decorated following the direct assessment of a professional interior designer.

The original furniture was restored and well combined with traditional materials and restoration techniques.

The current owner, an international well known artist, has created bespoke artwork, oil, acrylic and water paintings to decorate all the rooms.

The property is distributed in there levels. On the ground floor there is a big living room with fireplace and TV, a dinning room, a well equipped kitchen, a utility room and a bathroom .

On the second floor there are five bedrooms and an office/library .

On the top floor there is a bright and airy sitting room with spectacular panoramic views and four double bedrooms.

There are various outbuildings, including one chapel, available for weddings and conference meetings.

The chapel with heated floor can be arranged for weddings and meetings. The capacity in case of a working meeting (with tables) is of aprox. 25 people.

The event’s building is available for large celebrations and weddings. It has a capacity for up to 200 guests.

A married couple lives in the Masoveria (or annex cottage). They are in charge of the security, maintenance and the optional services.
