Mas Sallent

This elegant masía dating from the 18^th century is situated in a peaceful location, surrounded by fields, and half way between the city of Figueres and the medieval village of Besalú. It is just a few kilometres from the most beautiful spots along the Costa Brava, and it is just a couple of kilometres away from a well renowned golf course.

The property was completely rehabilitated in a casual and elegant style and is ideal for families and groups of friends.

Behind the traditional stone façade lies a delightful interior decorated with exquisite taste. Traditional terracotta floor tiles, beamed ceilings and decorative details all combine to create a unique feeling of stylish rusticity.

A large welcoming entrance hall leads the way to a vast living/dining room (83 sq m) with sofas, an open fireplace and TV, as well as formal dining area sitting 8.

From here, tall solid oak doors open onto a large beautifully maintained lawn, dotted with olive and fruit trees, whilst French doors provide convenient access to the pool and barbecue area, which with its large covered terrace will undoubtedly become the focal point for outdoor gatherings.

Adjacent the sitting room there is a spacious country style kitchen that incorporates all the comforts of modern day living. At a slightly raised level and attractively framed by a stone arch, there is a second dining area.

A stone staircase leads up to the upper floor where there is a spacious landing-cum-library lined with well-stocked bookshelves, at the far end of which is a study complete with antique escritoire.

It is from here that the bedrooms are accessed, all of which display the same beamed ceilings, stone walls and tasteful furnishings that feature throughout the rest of the house.

Outside the house there is a large garden with a swimming pool, a pond, a well, and various porches, one of which has a built in barbeque.

From the terraces there are broad views over the rolling countryside and the landscape around the house which is crisscrossed by country paths, ideal for taking long walks or bike rides in nature.

Living areas

Spacious open plan living/dining area, cleverly thought out with comfortable sofas grouped around an imposing stone fireplace and a separate sitting area boasting a large wall mounted plasma TV screen. To the back of here, a cosy dining area comes complete with its own private bar. The kitchen is also very spacious and has a casual dinning table for 8-10 people. The first floor landing hall has been converted into an office with a desk and computer available for the guests use. It has internet access, printer, telephone and fax machine.

The property features 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

1^st floor

Bedroom 1 Master: King size bed (200 x 200cm), TV, ceiling fan and en-suite bathroom (bathtub, sink and WC)

This bedroom also has a small dressing room and a terrace overlooking the pool.

Bedroom 2 (Four poster bed, Queen, 160cm), and Bedroom 3 (Queen, 160cm), share a bathroom (bathtub, sink, toilet)

Both bedrooms have ceiling fans.

Bedroom 4 (Queen, 160cm) with private bathroom (bathtub, sink, toilet) can also be prepared as a twin.

Bedroom 5 (Queen, 160cm) and Bedroom 6 also share a bathroom (shower, bath, WC sink). Bedroom 6 is a family room with two single beds and a double bed (150cm). This room also has a TV and a computer with internet access. Both bedroom 5 and 6 have dressing rooms and ceiling fans.

Mas Sallent has a large private garden with grassed area and swimming pool (12m x 5m) with Roman steps. There is a covered terrace with built in barbecue which is ideal for al fresco dining spring to autumn. Table tennis
The house is set in beautiful unspoilt countryside surrounded by fields, and walking distance to the village of Navata, which has bars, restaurants, a mini supermarket and a pharmacy. A well known Golf resort and spa is also walking distance from the house. Around the house there is a vast network of trails so you can walk, run or cycle for miles without touching a tarmac road.

Others

This property has a servant’s quarter where a discreet house keeper lives. He is in charge of the maintenance, security and extra services. There are two very well behaved dogs, a young cocker spaniel and an old golden retriever. They are very friendly and never come inside the house.

We had a delightful stay at Mas Sallent. Lovely house. Perfect for our family. Lots of interesting things to do nearby, and some combination of our group golfed every day. An added benefit to be so close to a top notch golf course.
The kids loved the menagerie of cats and dogs and baby chicks (born while we were there). Dudit was very nice and helpful.
The sun came out yesterday so we headed to the beach ... like everyone else.

Accomodations are as a whole of high quality. It is a great location out in country far from all noise of urban life. The house, pool, ping pong, walking and running trails are great. And when one wants out, you are only 15 -30 mn from all places. And the house keeper is a very nice man.
